Inspiration

Charlotte

Charlotte was athletic, creative, and incredibly fun to be around. She had a fierce competitive spirit and smile that lit up any room. In July 2018, Charlotte was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right femur, just above her knee. After initial chemotherapy and limb-salvage surgery, she proudly rang the bell and was declared cancer-free. Determined to be an active teenager, Charlotte got back to swimming, biking, golfing and high school activities. She loved the beach, shopping, rom-com movies, cooking and spending time with her friends and family, especially her twin brother, Matthew, her older sister, Maggie and her dog, Cody.  While in and out of treatment, Charlotte started a sewing business, That’s Sew Char, and donated profits to pediatric cancer research. Charlotte's osteosarcoma relapsed several times, but she remained hopeful and battled it with aggressive and experimental treatments. She met each challenge with strength and tenacity. Ultimately, treatments failed her but her infectious smile prevailed. In September 2021, during her senior year of high school, Charlotte passed away from metastatic osteosarcoma.
